Catering Assistant
It would be advantageous to have gained experience of working in a catering environment; ideally suited for candidates who have catered for specialist dietary needs e.g. residential homes or hospitals.
Job Description
Responsible to: Catering Supervisor
Salary: 17,362 equating to £8,929 (pro rata)
Working hours / days: 18 hours per week by arrangement; core hours will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8:30am – 2.30p.m.
Flexibility will be essential and you may also be required to work early mornings, evenings and weekends, plus provide cover for illness and holidays.
Annual leave entitlement: 25 days plus statutory holidays (pro rata), rising to 26 days (pro rata) after 5 full years and 27 days (pro rata) after 10 full years continuous employment.

Contract: Permanent subject to completion of a three month probationary period.

Summary
High Green Development Trust is looking to recruit in to this new post someone that is dedicated, hard-working and has the confidence of working in a kitchen environment which also caters for specialist diets.
The successful candidate will work in a sensitive environment and have the ability to work under your own initiative as well as within a team, demonstrating excellent organisational skills, including the use of a range of technical and practical skills to fulfil the job role.
In addition to providing support to colleague, members and visitors you’ll assist the Trust in creating a fresh approach to our catering provision.
Key Responsibilities
Catering Tasks
To assist the Catering Supervisor in the preparation of meals under on site contracts, outside catering and cafe outlet provisions.
Placing orders from suppliers as and when required to ensure the on- site catering provisions remains adequately stocked.
Creating displays of daily specials, fresh made produce and other items for sale to generate additional income for the catering provision.
Assisting The Catering Supervisor in meal and menu planning paying attention to seasonal purchasing, available offers and local produce wherever possible.
Assist in all cleaning duties in the kitchen and serving areas.
Ensuring the catering environment on-site is pleasant and welcoming in line with the Trusts vision.
Serving customers in a professional and courteous manner.
Operating with accuracy and pace.
Operating all equipment safely and reporting any problems to the Site & Services Supervisor.
Checking deliveries for accuracy and assisting in the monthly stock checks.
Taking responsibility for cashing up at the end of each day and completing all record sheets.
Handling customer enquiries & passing compliments or criticism or praise on to the Catering Supervisor.
Opening and locking up as required.
Adhering to all risk assessments, Health and Food Hygiene standards and committing to wearing the uniform provided.
Covering for the Catering Supervisor and other Catering Assistants when required.
