High Green Community Shop and Campus Food Share This week marks the 1 year anniversary since the opening of the High Green Community Shop here at The Campus. Following on from lead volunteer Maureen Greaves success at the previous location on Greengate Lane, the shop continues to supply the local community with affordable goods whilst raising funds to support struggling families with seaside holidays each summer. Donations of clothing, shoes, toys, books, cds, Dvds, and household goods can be donated at the shop directly. Monday - Friday 9.30am - 3pm and Saturdays 10.30am - 1pm. The Food Share is now supporting over 250 households with demand growing week on week. Our non referral project means that any one in need can access urgent food if they need it. Any donations of non perishable foods such as pasta, rice, sauces and cereals are always so desperately needed and gratefully received. Could your workplace organisation a collection, do let me know by reply email. We are also delighted to this week see the arrival of a freezer stocked full of Just Meals thanks to the amazing support of Food Works. Just Meals are environmentally-friendly ready meals available for a minimum contribution of £1. Created using quality surplus and locally grown ingredients, Just Meals are frozen on site to retain flavour and quality. They also prevent further food waste by keeping fresh in your freezer until you’re ready to eat your meal. Just Meals are a great alternative to a conventional ready meal. Each meal is packed in 100% biodegradable and home compostable packaging and can be heated in the microwave or oven at home. Just Meals give back more to the planet than they take, closing the food sustainability loop in a convenient, tasty way. We hope this alternative provision will support our community with affordable and healthy meals to compliment our Food Share service.
